Joshua (JJ) Bissoon-Dath
Before JJ Bissoon-Dath ever drafted a trust or argued a probate matter, he served in the U.S. Navy, trained as a pastry chef, ran special events at a vineyard, and earned a sommelier certification. That range, precision, hospitality, and genuine ease with people shows up in the way he practices law today. At Citizens Law Group, JJ oversees our real estate transactions and litigation, as well as probate and estate planning. He has advised clients with estates ranging from modest to over $50 million, and his practice spans custom estate plans, trust and business succession matters, and real estate disputes, always focusing on practical, lasting solutions.
JJ is also a SCAO Certified Mediator and SCAO Certified Child Protection Mediator, a background that shapes how he approaches every case: with patience, clarity, and a focus on real outcomes over unnecessary conflict. He's licensed in both Illinois and Michigan, holds his J.D. from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, and previously served as an elected Board Member of the Lyon Township Public Library.
Whether he's helping a family plan for the future, resolving a real estate dispute, or guiding an estate through probate, JJ brings the same thing to every client relationship: genuine care, hard-won expertise, and a steady hand.
